The next day Kathleen went to the bookstore and got some books about
spirituality and sexuality.  Some of the trash in the human sexuality 
section alarmed her, but there were some authors who treated sexuality 
as a sacred expression of love.  She found one excellent book by 
Richard Foster, The Challenge of the Disciplined Life, who said 
"Masturbation is not inherently wrong or sinful.  In the main, it is a 
common experience for most people and should be accepted as a normal 
part of life."   She was amazed to think that the nuns might be wrong 
about this! 

The dreams and fantasies continued.   One night she fantasized that he
realized he felt the same way about her, and was considering giving up 
the priesthood so they could be together.  And then they could share 
the exquisite pleasure her own touch was giving her. 

She found, as the weeks and months went by, the crush seemed to fade in
it's intensity, although she still did have very strong feelings for 
him.   She prayed about it often, which helped a lot. 

She was walking to church one spring morning, it was a beautiful day,
and the birds were out.  She still thought about him so often, but 
realized it was just a crush, and nothing to get terribly upset about.  
 She never mentioned a thing to anyone of course, but occasionally she 
would touch herself late at night when Frank was asleep next to her.  
She was a guilty at first about it, but then realized everyone did it 
from time to time.   Maybe it was a kind of grace, she thought, feeling 
the spring sun on her face.
