This state of hers couldn't continue, she was tired and her nerves shot.
This wasn't any good for the children. She thought they could sense
her troubles as well and she needed to be strong and focused for them.
Kelly laid down in the staff lounge on the couch for a quick sleep.
She awoke about 15 minutes later feeling somewhat better. She
stretched and sat up yawning as she shook the fogginess out of her
head. She straightened herself up and got ready to continue her day.

As Kelly drove up to the front of her house that feeling returned, then
she noticed the light on in her bedroom. She knew that she had turned
it off before she left for the hospital. She took a deep breath as she
unlocked the door and entered. It took a lot of pushing to get herself
in the house. She turned and closed the door and locked it. Then she
heard it, an eerie light laugh that seemed almost childlike. It seemed
to come from nowhere in particular. She spun around looking for a
direction. It happened again it was just audible and definitely
sounded like a child's voice it wasn't deep enough to be an adult.
"Hello" she called out tentatively, not really expecting an answer.
She felt a cold shiver as she headed up the stairs. She saw the light
on under her door; she slowly moved to it her hand grasped the handle.
She was barely able to function as she gingerly opened the door. Her
blood turned cold as she opened the door. In the corner sat a little
girl her knees pulled up tight to her. She had her hands wrapped
around her legs; she was about 5 years old. It was Jennifer, a little
girl that had died in her ward a few weeks ago. Her fear slowly
slipped away, the knot in her stomach started to fade. Now a much
different feeling started to fill her. A concern and sadness started
of overtake her as she stood staring at the little girl curled up in
the corner.

Then the little girl looked up at Kelly with sad eyes and she spoke.
"Please can I stay here, will you help me," she said the voice seeming
to come from all over the room. Kelly felt some relief and warmth as
she smiled back at the little girl. "Of course you can stay, and I will
do everything I can to help you" she said. Jennifer smiled widely at
Kelly with a look of happiness. Kelly didn't even think of how odd
this was, she really couldn't help her. Jennifer was beyond any help
she could give to her, but it didn't matter one of her kids from the
hospital that she had lost had come back to her and she wasn't about to
turn away from that. She looked at it as a miracle that she had been
given.
