| This is another class assignment. I suggest you read Ray Bradbury's "A Sound Of Thunder". You won't understand the story otherwise. | |||
POWER TO THE BUTTERFLY "Embedded in the mud, glistening green and gold and black, was a butterfly, very beautiful and very dead."-Ray Bradbury Time. Time is a powerful element. One that the living may only begin to understand. Time isn't smooth, slow, fast nor foolish. Time is only foolish as the one who uses it. And that's precisley it. Without the living, time is nothing. Nothing, not even space. With the death of one butterfly, Eckles had destroyed the balance of the living and the time. It was a butterfly; a simple yet beautiful being. With wings of velvet she soared. Due to the foolishness of man she had left Time. She was critical to this world, to our way of life as we watch around us with our closed eyes. A plant was never pollinated. It never grew. It never evolved into a fruit. Humans never got a chance to taste the sweet sour citric orange. Several chemicals in the brain were never formed. The destruction of balance had changed the human way of thinking. Many things that were thought of as bad are presumed good. Their way of writing and pronunciation has changed dramaticly. How they make decisions has differed. Who thought Keith would win the election? Eckles sure did. But it was his tamperment with time that has caused this significant, enourmous change. Time equals change;change equals time. Any event is significant. Whether you've won something grand or achieved a wonderful goal. Or you got up 10 minutes late this morning or you had pizza for dinner. Everything affects time and change. This is what Eckles had not realized. He never realized how something so innocent could be so destructive. He never realized the power that lay within her. Power to the butterfly.
