Sarah works in her dad's shop, but she hates it and decides to get another job, also somewhere else to live, so she gets her friend Kylie to help her, but Kylie soon regrets getting involved and comes up with a plan - one that she hopes will work.

Sarah started her journey towards work - towards another boring day. She
hated it, but there was no escape. She felt like telling the owner what
to do with his crummy shop - the only problem was - the owner was her
dad, The shop he owned was a newsagent. It had been in the family for
years. Her granddad started the business back in the early seventies.
But Sarah couldn't take any more, so instead of heading in the
direction of the shop, she turned and went the opposite way to go to
another shop where she knew there was a job on offer.

‘Is the vacancy still available?' she asked the lady after making her
way through the shop door.

‘Have you any experience of shop work?' the lady asked.

Sarah was amazed by the question. She had been brought up in a
newsagent's shop. She was stacking shelves with magazines since she was
in primary school.

Ten minutes later, Sarah walked out of the shop. She couldn't stop
smiling. But there was only one problem - she needed a reference. Her
dad was going to love that - getting a phone call from a fashion shop
asking if she were a good worker. Sarah soon got around that one. She
Put her friend's phone number down. Then while on her way back to her
dad's shop she phoned her friend up.

‘Hey, Kylie, can you do me a favour?' she asked her once Kylie had
answered her phone.

‘Oh, what do you want, Sarah. I'm not lending you any more money. Can't
you ask that miser of a dad of yours to give you a pay rise?

‘No, it's not that. I need a reference for a job I've just managed to
get.'

‘Ask your dad. He owns a shop, remember.'

‘Oh, Kylie, you know my dad. He'll go ballistic if he finds out I'm
going after another job.'

‘He's gonna go ballistic anyway when you actually start it.'

‘I'm leaving home, so there ain't much he'll be able to do about it.'

‘Yeah, where you gonna stay? On a bench in the park? It'll cost a
fortune to rent a flat around here.'

‘I'm moving in with you.'

‘What! Tell me you are joking?'

‘Oh, come on, Kylie, you said you needed another person to share your
flat.'

Yes, Sarah, but we are talking about you. You are untidy, lazy and you
play your music too loud. And they are just your good points. I'll
never forget last year when we went to Llandudno on holiday together.'

‘Oh, come on, Kylie. It wasn't my fault I finished up in the police
station suspected of shoplifting. Somebody planted those goods in my
bag.'

‘Of course, they did. Tell that to your new employer.'

After ringing off from talking to Kylie, Sarah had another grin on her
face; not only had she managed to talk Kylie into giving her a
reference, she also talked her into letting her move into her flat.
Sarah had known Kylie since they were little. She knew she would give
in eventually. She always did.

Sarah got back to the newsagent's, and who was at the door waiting for
her? Her dad. The expression on his face - if looks could kill.

‘So where have you been till now, my girl?'

‘I'm sorry dad but I got a phone call from Kylie. She's in hospital with
