It was the end of the memorable journey of four years. A splendid
university, some beautiful fragments of life as friends and a long
series of notorious activities in the name of ‘study' flashed across my
mind. I was busy in my own thoughts when Jason shook me up and I came
back to reality. Just a while ago, it was the happy memories of our fun
swirling in my mind and now, just sadness and cries of parting, circled
my ears. I was somewhat happy, because my favourite couple was
together; my best friends, Aiden and Erica. They were just made for
each other.

I noticed them for the first time when a dispute broke out between Aiden
and Jason. It was the most horrifying event I could recollect from my
entire life. Erica was a girl of tears. She would broke out at tiny
fights and this, was a heavy setback for her. She was in complete
shock. I was unable to control three people at a time.Jason needed no
consolation, he was wise. After consoling much and leaving Erica with
Jessica, I was free to talk to Aiden. There, when we were the only two
in the sitting area, he expressed his love for her. I was utterly
confused on how to react so I remained silent. But after a prolonged
dead for about two minutes it became heavy for me to stay in there. I
told him about Erica's condition and he pleaded me to take care of her
rather than him. When we were heading towards our home, I asked her or
as the onlookers say, almost forced her to accept Aiden as her partner.
On the contrary, it wasn't quiet as difficult as I thought because I
got to know that she already had a soft spot for him. In actual, she
felt the same for him.

We exchanged the talks and headed home. I was quiet surprised as if not
knowing my best friends would be.... The next day, the dispute was
resolved by the boys and they were together, as usual. I told Jason
about them and he was pretty amazed. We decided to gift both of them,
their favourites on the behalf of their lovers. Aiden was awarded with
the most prized possession of his which was a Rolex watch by Jason on
Erica's behalf and I presented her with a pure transparent circle of
reflecting light, a glass butterfly bracelet, on Aiden's behalf. How
perfect the things turned out to be.....

A YEAR AFTER.....

In the series of events, I happened to visit my city after a full year.
As soon as I entered the outskirts of my place, I ran into Jason. He
was pretending to be happy at first but he knew it was practically
impossible to hide anything from me. I asked him, his grief and he
didn't try any harder to hide. He said two lines....those two....made
me kneel down and fall on the ground. I was back in my place, only to
know, that Aiden had cancer and he died during his operation. For a
moment...I became a stone, the next moment, I was on my legs. I ran
towards Erica's house blankly. The only thing, audible to me, was
Jason's breaking voice....

After running for around a mile, I stopped, instantly. I looked aside: -
“Williams Palace”.... A year before, this house was always filled with
laughter and parties. I rushed in. The view inside was terrible. The
curtains which were used to be pulled up and apart to welcome the
sunshine were torn and shed to witness the dark. The glass table, which
used to be filled with exotic delicacies prepared by Mrs.Williams, was
shattered rather badly. The couches, chairs, artefacts were all broken
down to a piece of junk. Just as I was trying to regain my senses, I
heard a slight laughter from her room....

I flung open the door. There I saw her...Erica...who became
almost...unrecognisable...torn untidy fits, uncombed hairs, and a sick
mind.......

She was playing with a glassy circle which reflected a beam of light
onto my face...that was it...the token of his love...
