Self-Awareness (standard:poetry, 95 words)
Author: TemptingWhisperAdded: Mar 17 2002Views/Reads: 2192/0Story vote: 0.00 (0 votes)
A woman wonders how her lover sees her when he looks at her.

standing totally still

in front of a mirror.

staring into the glass...

it might be a photograph -

reflections caught, framed...

like so many frozen images of dreams.

examining herself with

a stranger's eye:

curl of hair

swell of breast

curve of hip.

motionless. still.

drops of moisture covering imperfect skin.

darkness of bruise.

crimson slash of scar.

bulge of muscle. roll of fat.

hips too wide.

triangle of curls below

the swell of excess flesh.

breasts - large, heavy.

the female body.

seeking perfection. failing miserably.
