"What? James, are you saying you wrote this? Why couldn't you have
just gotten Brad to tell me to meet you somewhere rather then writing
the note?" I looked at him, having no clue as to what he was up to.

He laughed, "Well I thought this was a little bit more mysterious and I
didn't want you to know who it was, but I thought you might have been
able to guess. Look at the time, that's when I had PCM this morning."
I looked at the time printed on the sheet, it was indeed during James'
PCM class. He still hadn't explained why he'd written the note, or why
he had wanted to meet me here.

I smiled, "Well it certainly had me wondering. And it also means I have
you to thank for getting me into trouble when I turned around to find
my mystery letter sender. So," I looked at my watch, "it is now 1:20
and I still don't know what I'm doing here, want to fill me in or
what?"

He looked down at his feet, as though he had all of a sudden become shy
around me. I smiled, "Come on James."

"Well, I was just wondering if maybe, umm, if perhaps you would like to,
uh, hmm."

"Oh come on James, if I would like to what?" I said staring at him now.

"If you would perhaps like to go out with me sometime, like on a date?"
He was looking at me now. I smiled and threw my arms around his neck,
almost knocking him off balance.

"I'd love to," I said in his ear. Then picked up my stuff and headed
back down into the schoolyard.

"Bec!" I turned around, " Don't say anything yet okay?" I nodded, smiled
and turned around again, feeling better than I had in ages. I had
wanted for so long to "go out" with James, and now he had asked me, I
couldn't believe it!

The rest of Friday afternoon went by in a bit of a blur, I was really
quite happy and had a hard time not telling my friends why, I said it
was because it was Friday and I was looking forward to the weekend,
which was true. The last bell went and I think I was first out the
door and on my way down to the bus stop. I saw James waiting in our
usual spot for the rest of the gang and I couldn't help smiling, he was
smiling back and looked about as happy as I was. It was weird really,
we'd been friends for so long, but now we were more than that, and
happier about it to!

"Hey, How was your afternoon?" I asked as the other bus students started
to make their way down to the bus stop.

"A total bludge, yours?" He said.

I giggled, "The same pretty much."

"So, what you up to this avo Bec?" James asked, a smile on his face.

I couldn't help laughing, "I don't know, but I have a feeling you do,
wanna tell me what you have in mind?"

He put a look of serious thought on his face, "Umm, nope, I don't think
so!" For that I hit him and we both started laughing. We were still
laughing when Jo and Kris finally made their way down to where we
stood.

"Hey you two, what's so funny?"

I was still laughing, "Nothing Jo, James' was just being stupid." And
with that James kicked me, I gave him an evil look and slapped him
back.

"So Bec, how was soccer training at lunch? Any good looking guys playing
this year?" Jo was always on the outlook for some gorgeous sporty types
to prey on, but it was fun.

I giggled, "Oh yeah, there were a few about. And boy did they look good
in those tight shorts." We both burst out laughing. I sneaked a look
at James, he was smiling, which was good, I didn't won't to ruin my
chances with him already!

Friday afternoons were when our gang would usually head off to the shops
after school and just hang out. Today tho, Jo had an appointment and
Sara was visiting her grandfather in hospital so it was just James and
I. Jo got off at her stop and I called out to her to call me on the
weekend.

"So," I said to James when I'd got myself fully back in the bus, "what
we up to this avo?"

"Hmm, let me see. How about dinner and a movie?"

"Serious? I'd love to, but I'll have to call mum," I looked down at my
school uniform and giggled, " and get changed first!"

"Oh I dunno, I think you look rather sexy in that uniform," James
smiled.

I smiled, "Do you now? Well, guess its just as well I have to wear it
everyday then." James' tried to hit me and I ducked. As I did so I
lost my balance and James' grabbed me round the waist.

"Thanks," I said breathlessly. I leant back into his embrace, with no
intention of moving from it.
