about a broken heart & man

He said to her I love you so I'm giving you my heart. She said to him I
love you too, then tore his world apart. He used to go around with a 
smile etched upon his face. Now he drinks a lot and don't go anyplace. 
He says he ain't been broke yet , just a little bruised. His heart will 
keep on beating even if his love's been used. 

He said to her I need you so I'm giving you my soul. She said to him I
want you too but what I need is gold. He used to walk around with a 
smile etched on his face. Now he drinks a lot and don't go anyplace. 
Still says he ain't been broke yet , just a little bruised. And his 
heart will keep on beating even if his love's been used. 

His old friends come to visit every now and then . They say he's
fighting battles that he knowes he can't win. He ain't no good to noone 
you can see it in his eyes. He's too damn tough to show it but every 
night he cries. 

He said to her I miss you, so won't you please come home. She said to
him I miss you too then left him all alone. Yeah, he used to walk 
around with a smile etched on his face. Now he drinks a lot and won't 
go anyplace. He swears he ain't been broke yet he's just been badly 
bruised. His heart keeps right on beating even after his love's been 
used. 

He don't understand it or even question why. He just takes another drink
then bows his head to cry. His old friends have forgotten him. They 
don't visit anymore. It does 'nt matter anyway cause he can't get the 
door. Can't drown her in a bottle but tonight he'll try again. He's 
still fighting battles that he knowes he can't win. 

And he used to walk around with a smile etched upon his face. Now he
drinks a lot and won't go anyplace. He still says he ain't been broke 
yet he's just been badly bruised. His heart keeps right on beating even 
after his love's been used.
