--He's a trickster. No god or oracle would talk through an Eight Ball! 

--Mysterious ways? His wonders to perform? 

--Wishful thinking. 

--Maybe the spirits--or the subconscious--use whatever's available,
whatever we'll listen to. If we're willing to listen at all, that is. 
Next question, please. 

--OK. Aren't you nothing more than a kiddie toy? A little plastic
thingamabob floating in a murky fluid? Some poor relation to a fortune 
cookie? 

--"ASK AGAIN LATER." Yeah, like when you're in a more receptive mood. 

--Oh, please.  Give me that thing. Ooops! 

--Now you've done it! It's leaking. What's this blue stuff? 

--The ethereal realm, liquefied and bottled? 

--Cynic! Alas, poor Eighty. I knew him well . . . . 

--Did you? 

--Look. Here's the last message: "SIGNS POINT TO YES."
