There's gotta be more than just a game. It doesn't seem like it, but I just know there has to be.

Is it just a take-down? A shake-down? A shoot out with the lights out? A
gun brawl for the quick draw? 

Are we just gum flappin' for the skin slappin'? Scramblin' and scrappin'
to make somethin' happen? Are our attractions just chemical reactions? 

Because I hope when I scope, and it probably makes me a dope but I hope
that I find somethin' that does more than help me cope. 

I'm lookin' for the mythic things, that can make me sing, gimme wings,
and I don't even care if it stings, just so long as it brings more joy 
than arrows and slings. 

Cuz it's gotta be more than rhymin' an' timin'. More than frontin' for
gruntin'. Goddammit all the pain's gotta mean somethin'! 

So while I duck all the fightin' and slightin' I'll try and keep track
of all the candles I'm lightin' And maybe, just maybe, I'll wake up 
flyin'.
