lazy old uncle Frank becomes a respected lawman, in Muddy fork township

I don't think I ever seen Frank so worried and I can't say I blame him
them Bishop brothers are mean as rattle snakes and dangerous to boot” 
paw told him that would teach him not to be so sorry and get put in 
jail just for room and board, Frank promised if he lives over this he 
will never get put in jail again , and  he'll get him a proper job and 
quiet even drinking whiskey , Franks shook all our hands and hugged 
Mammy like he was going to never see us all again , and he rode his 
pretty county sheriff horse away , 

that next day Franks and the sheriff raided the Bishops and Frank got
his left ear shot off and the sheriff suffered a flesh not real deep ‘ 
it was talk that the Bishops surrendered, and all are locked behind the 
bars of Muddy Fork jail house, Time passed and Frank showed up with his 
ear missing and all bandaged up, and give us the news that the sheriff 
had hired him on as a real long time deputy sheriff, and the county is 
going to pay for him a fake ear to wear, 

Frank is a different fellow now and has not touched a drop of whiskey
and goes about the county  keeping law and order, mammy and pappy 
cannot believe that he has changed.. 

Everyone that knows Frank sure had seen a change in him since he put
that big sheriff star on his breast , he had turned from a lazy no 
account man into a lawman, Sheriff Turner told paw that he was fixing 
to hire him to continue to a deputy Sheriff, Turner said' he was the 
best deputy he had on his crew , he told paw that when he sent him with 
a warrant that he served in with no problem at all, he declared to paw 
that Frank knows how to talk to people and get them come to jail and 
answer the charges, Sheriff Turner told paw he has a way with people, 
and believe it or not ever old drunk in the county knows him by name, 
and they don't mind at all if one of their own kind take them to jail, 

Sheriff Tuner come to our shack yesterday and brought us some new news
about what happen in  Muddy Fork just the day before, two men with the 
last name of Moore got into a fight with their brother in law over a 
land dispute, their old pappy had died and they had one sister and the 
two brother Moore men was mad because their sister got the same part in 
the inheritance as they got The two Moores had been drinking in the 
saloon and were well drunk and they left the saloon and met their 
brother in law , and they went to throwing rocks that they were picking 
up alongside the wagon road in town thrusting them at the brother in 
law, because they were mad about the land, they also got sticks and was 
using them as weapons against the brother in law,just so happen that 
the brother in law was carrying a knife that he pulled from his back 
breaches pocket and he slashed the two Moores that they were bleeding 
and wounded bad, a drunk from the saloon come out and seen what was 
going on and he hurried and found Frank and told him a bad fight was 
being done just down the road about middle ways of the township, by the 
time Franks and I got there it was too late the two Moores were slashed 
so bad and bleeding that Franks and I decided that there was no use in 
taking the three wounded men to jail, the two Moores died about ten 
hours later from the wounds they has sustained during the scuffle , 
leaving their children had wives behind because of a land dispute, it 
was ruled self defense and their brother in law nearly died but lived, 
when Frank and I got there the three men were still making lunges at 
each other and Frank drew his pistol and told them that if another lick 
was made he would kill the one making it and the men stopped dead in 
their tracks , but it was too late for the Moores said ‘ sheriff Turner 
they both want be fighting over land again, 

news of the killings went like wild fire threw Muddy Fork county , and
folks felt sorry for their wives and children left behind to fend for 
themselves,  this was the worst things that had happen since Frank 
become Deputy sheriff, 

Frank life has changed since he become the law, he is not the laziest
man in the county and he is getting respect as a honest lawman fair and 
square in his law job, his old drinking days have ended Mammy and paw 
both are just delighted at his new ways, he come to our shack last 
Sunday riding that big horse with a star on the saddle and took dinner 
with us and Mammy had his favorite Chicken and Dumpling, 

The county of Muddy Fork just isn't the same since Frank is the law now,
folks tip their hats when the meet him on the wagon roads , bootleggers 
have moved deeper into the woodland so Frank and sheriff want find 
their whiskey stills, and bust their whiskey barrels up, 

and paw swears that sooner of later someone will shoot Frank off that
big county horse with that big sheriff star on the saddle, but that 
don't bother Frank at all he is the law now and Frank aims to keep 
Muddy fork whiskey free and arrest old sorry men like he use to be for 
breaking the laws and fighting and stealing and such , 

yes sir that star means a lot to Uncle Franks and he aims to live on the
right side of the law , till saint peter calls  him name,, folks in the 
county all declare that Muddy Fork is a better place to live since 
Frank become the law, and believe this or not even some of the old 
regular drunks around the ridges have laid their whiskey bottle down 
and took up being like their old buddy Frank is now a law abiding 
citizen, 

Mammy got some news just yesterday that Sheriff Turners Mammy is a widow
woman and that  she has been making eyes at Frank, and maw is thinking 
that Frank liable to be a married lawman before long , it still hard to 
believe that and old dog like frank can still learn new tricks, and I 
think the one that made this statement could rewrite that part and 
quote it like this sometimes and old Dog can be taught new tricks, corn 
looks good standing on the sloped ridges around Muddy Fork county and 
birds have begin making their nest for the laying of their eggs to 
raise a new flock of birds, and uncle Frank is seen a lot on that big 
pretty horse with the star on the saddle, Franks aims to keep the peace 
come rain of shine, guess my beloved departed grandma quote was right 
all is well that end well ....the end
