The Anti-Aggressor - is a short story about the ultimate weapon

A prominent scientist presents the findings of his research to the
Council of the Intergalactic Alliance: “Gentlemen, we have developed, 
and refined, what is possibly the ultimate and most advanced weapon 
against those who may wage ware against us: the *anti-aggressor*. It is 
a weapon so powerful that the more our enemies fight against it, the 
quicker they are defended. It actually feeds on the aggression and 
warmongering spirit of our foe, and uses these own traits to destroy 
them from within themselves, using their own destructive forces. In 
short, the enemy is tricked into killing itself using it's own 
aggression, because that force is deflected back onto itself. 

“Our greatest refinement of this weapon, and indeed a very necessary
one, is a kind of shield which makes the device only point away from 
the party using it, so that we ourselves are not destroyed by it, only 
our enemies. 

“As I'm sure you will see, this is the ideal weapon, since it only
operates on aggressive, destructive wave-lengths, and as soon as the 
oppressors become pacified, the weapon becomes a harmless defence 
mechanism, stopping any hostilities from our foe.” 

“I don't like this,” an interjector said. “What if one of these things,
these anti-aggressors, were captured? It could then be turned against 
us, and used to turn us into a race of slaves, helpless to fight back.” 


“And that is why we have put in the ultimate fail-safe, a self
destruction mechanism, which is protected by our strongest cipher 
coding known today, unique to each of these units, which will simply 
cause the unit to detonate and hence be gone.” 

“But”, came the interjection, “what will stop this thing from
misinterpreting a self-destruction signal as a sign of aggression, and 
destroying us, it's commanders?” 

“The shield will protect us!” 

“But”, again came the interjection, “we dare never us this thing against
our foes, for fear that one may be captured and used against us. We 
could not use the self-destruction cipher to destroy it because we 
would not have the shield to protect us. In trying to destroy it, it 
would kill us! Indeed this is the ultimate weapon, but it is too 
powerful even for us.” 

“D-oh. Maybe this whole anti-aggressor thing was a bad idea.”
