Let My Fire Burn (standard:poetry, 210 words)
Author: BurnAdded: Apr 12 2012Views/Reads: 2718/0Story vote: 0.00 (0 votes)
Something I was inspired to write, though I'm certain it is not something most would consider poetry.

I'm trying to hold back these tears, the road is just too long, and I'm
fighting back these fears. When I fall I can't get back up again. My
hope starts to dim, and I find myself reaching out to you once more,
but you can't be there for me this time.

I, I wanna cry, but I will not stumble now. The fire inside me burns too
bright, the heat a radiating reminder of who I am. So I, I get back up
again, just to get knocked down again. I'm gonna let my fire burn.

I, I know I gotta do this. I, I know I gotta do this. Let my fire burn.

These chains don't get no lighter, the sun don't shine no more. The
water crashes against me, and threatens to take all I've ever known. I
wanna scream, I wanna reach out.
