straightfoward way. I won't say that we should be objective, becuase
that is impossible. But at the very least admit that the information
that we are giving them is slanted toward a particular view and present
them information that is slanted a view other ways. From there let
them decide which is right. That is freedom.

And my final topic and most touchy subject here: Religion. Don't be too
horribly offended here, these are my personal beliefs, although I admit
that I'm writing to persuade here. At the very least just think about
it. If you don't like it ignore it.

There is no God. I challenge anyone to prove to me conclusively, that
He or She exists. Before you do so think about this. When debating
you can either take the yes position or the no position. The yes
position has to be proven with evidence, the no position does not. In
Science, when researchers are looking for new developements, they have
to assume they do not exist until they can prove that they do exist.
If in the year 1650 someone had said there's no such thing as the steam
train he would be right. Fast forward to today, and we can prove that
person wrong easily. But that person never has to present any evidence
for his position. The same goes for the debate over the existence of
aliens. Show me an alien and I'll admit that they exist, until then
there are none. The point of all this, There is no God, and until I
meet Him in person, I will continue to not beleive in Him.

I think that today people use religion like a drug. As Marx said,
"Religion is the opiate of the masses." When life gets difficult for
some people they pray for help. The problem is that all they do is
pray and trust that God will take care of their problems. It's been my
experience that you have to rely on yourself and others to get things
taken care of here on Earth. So even if there is a God, He sure isn't
listening to anyone's prayers. Also, I'd like to talk about the people
that go to church so they can have their sins forgiven. I'd wager that
there are a lot of people out there that are doing some awful stuff,
the first six days of the week, knowing that on Sunday all will be
forgiven. That's hardly very moral.

Consider this: During WWII the Catholic Church had a non-involvement
policy. If the church had actually taken the side of the Allies, the
church could have saved the lives of millions of Jews, just by lending
the support of Catholics around the world. Going further back into
history, the Crusades were responsible for killing thousands of people.
Think about all the blood on the hands of every religion that has
every fought a holy war. One of the overriding tenants of nearly all
Judeo-Christian faith is the commandment, "Thou shalt not kill."
That's a simple statement and what's more there is no clause that says,
"--except in the case of holy war." How does religion justify the
morality of killing all these people. In the act of defending their
faith they disobey one the most fundamental tenants of the religion.
That's pretty hypocritical.

I don't advocate supporting organized religion. I also don't advocate
immorality. I think that it is entirely possible to live moral and
ethical lives, without relying on an establishment to create those
morals and ethics for you. Anyone, who acknowledges the theory of
evolution as correct needs to realize that the implication of that
theory is that there is no God and no afterlife. In the face of this
realize that in the end you are only accountable to yourself. If you
hold yourself to a high enough standard you will live a moral life full
of meaning and happiness, without the opiate of religion.

That will conclude the ranting for today. As usual send me feedback,
either through the anonymous email or in the forum. If you feel the
need to say a lot of really mean things about me being a Godless
heathen, save it. I've heard it before and it doesn't bother me, so
let's not waste each others time with that. If you're offended, sorry.
These are my believes. You don't have to believe the same as me. I
just hope that I've made you think a little bit about what you beleive
in. With all this being said, thanks for reading this far.

There. I'm done.
