Billy tried and faled to make the grade

“Golly” Billy thought, “ I wonder what else can go wrong today. Maybe I
should go in, take a shower , and go back to bed. I can't paint anymore 
because my paint is all on the ground. I guess I will have to go to 
town and buy some more. He went in the house stripped off his underwear 
and stepped into the shower. He tried to adjust the temperature of the 
water only to find that all he could get was cold. (and since he was on 
well water it was really cold). But because he was already in the 
shower and wet, he thought ”I might as well get the worst of it off 
even if I freeze to death doing it”. So he quickly scoured himself off. 
Outside the shower, he toweled off, got dressed and went to check the 
water heater. 

“Dog gone it”, he  thought “ I believed this was going to a really good
day,, but it is turning out to be a bummer“. He went to the utility 
room to check the water heater. And found the  pilot light was not 
burning, so he went to the kitchen to get some matches to light it. It 
was then that he noticed that there was a message on his answering 
machine. He turned it on and this is what he heard. ”We are sorry,  but 
there has been a major break in the gas main near your location. Our 
service crew are aware of it and are going to repair it. You may be 
without natural gas service for a few hours.” 

“Well”, he thought this day started out rather well, but it has all been
down hill from there It reminds me of that old Ishkibble song that he 
used to sing on the Kay Kaiser TV program,” Wow! what a lousy Day“, and 
you know something? I believe he was right.
