How Sister Feels Inside (standard:poetry, 172 words)

A boy's sister was almost raped, his thoughts are scrambled as to whats going on and importantly, how she feels.

She says she's going out, 

I say alright. 

It's past 12, she's late. 

I wonder where she is. 

Suddenly the door opens, 

and there she is. 

Her eye is swollen, 

I ask what happened. 

She said she was mackin'. 

This guy took her to the back 

and unzipped his pants. 

She wouldn't go down, 

so he smacked her around. 

Some guy stopped him, 

and she left them. 

So now she's back home, 

and I'm on the phone, 

telling mom and dad she's ok, 

that everything's alright. 

Even though its not, 

because I forgot 

how she feels inside. 

She sits there, 

on the couch 

rolled up into a ball, 

rocking back and forth 

her mind about to fall, 

into a hole of darkness. 

I go up to her and give her a hug. 

I tell her everything's ok, 

no one's gonna get her. 

I give her some ice, 

as she leans on my shoulder. 

She cries and cries, 

and I dry them and hold her for the night, 

wondering how she feels inside.
