when a dream turns out not to be what you thought it was

I keep looking to the sky for answers, because I can't find any down
here 

I tell myself I saw love in your eyes, Hidden under your fear, I don't
know if I saw it, Or just tell myself what I wanted to hear 

Every night I lay awake, Wishing you were here, So I could feel your
strong warm touch, But I only feel my tears 

I tried and tried to make you happy, To have you smile once in a while,
But nothing I did, nothing I tried, Seemed good enough for you 

What was worong, what did I do, To not deserve love, And not deserve you
