I ran into the room searching for the ringing phone. I couldn't find it
anywhere! It kept on ringing so it must be someone important calling,
maybe Jonathan, I thought. I traced the muffled sound to under a
Christmas pillow on the couch. Thanks a lot Ty, I thought. I pressed
the red TALK button, and put the phone up to my ear.

“Hello?” I asked, a little out of breath.

“Hey Kenzie,” My dad's voice came over the line.

“Hi papa. What's up? Are you coming up here tonight, cause I need you to
get me something out of the attic for me. I have a project at school
and I need one of the boys' outfits from when they were little.”

“Well, I'm taking your brothers over to your grandma's house for dinner
tonight. Do you want to come? I'll stop up and get the stuff out of the
attic if you need it by tomorrow, but if you don't, I'm kinda busy, so
I'll get it tomorrow evening. But if you have to have it for school
tomorrow, then I'll come up.”

“I don't need it by tomorrow, but it's due Wednesday, and today's
Monday, so.... And, no thanks, I already ate and I have to finish my
report for English. But thanks anyhow. Do the boys have good enough
clothes on to go over there?” here he was again, asking me to go over
to that devil woman's house. I know, she's my grandma, and I used to
love her, but because of the most recent events around here, that woman
makes me sick to my stomach. And my dad does too, sometimes. But other
times he can be an awesome parent. My brothers are always hanging with
him because he spoils them, unlike my mom.

“Okay, I'll come up tomorrow then. What kind of English project are you
doing that needs musty old baby boy clothes?” he asked.

“Oh, it's my stupid teacher again. I can't stand her. She's an
over-enthusiastic idiot who happens to teach the subject I hate most;
7th grade English! So, anyway, what do the boys have on?”

“They look good enough to go over there. Ty's got on his camo pants and
some blue shirt, and Zach looks good, like always. I have gotta go,
they are punching and kicking again. Are you sure you don't wanna come?
Your grandma would be happy to see you.”

“I'm sure she would, but I have lots of homework. Thanks anyhow. I'll
TTYL.”

“Alright, bye.”

“Chow; adios amigos,” I said, and hung up the phone. I didn't really
have anymore homework, but I haven't wrote in my diary for a while.
Anything beats going to the witches' house.

I went back to my purple and yellow room and plopped down on my bed. It
had a greed, yellow, purple, and blue checkered bedspread, and I
thought it was disgustingly ugly, but my mom got it for my birthday, so
I had to use it. I pulled my beat up tablet and pencil out of my secret
compartment and began to write in my diary.

Dear Diary,

Dad just called...
