A beautiful wife, and unappreciative husband, and a very appreciative and admiring friend. This makes a recipe for true love.

Good Trade

The showroom didn't have a single customer, and except for the distant
sounds coming from the parts department down the long hallway, it was
unusually silent.

“Well, now are you happy?” The sales manager's distinctly loud, and
somewhat angry, voice could be heard throughout the large showroom and,
again, as it echoed off the high ceiling and the hard tiled floor.

Jeff Dotson, the dealerships top salesman for years, had just lost a
very lucrative commercial account because of a flirtatious, and rather
sexist, statement to the attractive purchasing agent for Jenkins Pest
Control.

“Happy?” Jeff spoke in his usual confident and controlled voice. “I'm
not supposed to be happy,” his face began to change from concern to
his, practiced, devious smile that had won him so many women and so
many sales, “I'm married.”

There was a moment of silence and everyone who had been listening held
their breaths in anticipation of what was to happen next. They knew
the sales manager had been livid after receiving the phone call
complaining about Jeff's conduct. They knew the sales manager was more
than ready to discipline Jeff in the harshest way available to him.

“You're terrible,” the sales manager shook his head, no longer angry
but now actually smiling, “now please don't try to fuck our best
accounts anymore,” he turned to walk away but paused and turned back to
add, “and with a wife like yours I don't know why in the world you'd
want to fuck around and risk losing her.”

“Jeff's married?” Jim Davis, the new salesman looked quizzical at Jerry
Allen who shared the small office near Jeff's.

“Well,” Jerry shook his head as he spoke, “Lori, his sweet wife is,”
Jerry thought a moment and added, “and, Dale is absolutely right about
Lori too,” Jerry's eyes left Jim's and stared somewhere in a distant
realm now, “she's not only about the sweetest, caring, and wonderful
woman I've ever met,” Jerry looked back at his office mate and smiled,
“she's absolutely the most beautiful woman with the most perfect body
in the world.”

And, Lori was. She was almost five foot nine and weighed one hundred
thirty pounds. She had long, very naturally shiny, brown hair, dark
brown eyebrows and eyelashes, and incredible dark green eyes. Her
facial features were strikingly perfect and she knew exactly how to use
makeup, even though she didn't need it.

Like most young ladies, she'd fallen for Jeff's charm and personality.
Although, Jeff was not only blessed with that charm and personality, he
was also a rather good looking man. Tall, well built, dark hair and
eyes, he was not only the ex school jock every school girl was after,
he was also the tall dark and handsome man every woman dreamed of.
And, it didn't hurt that he was a very gifted salesman and made a very
good living too.

“So,” Jerry realized that he'd really not gotten to know his new office
mate at all the three days that Jim had worked there, “you married?”

“Very,” Jim wanted it clear that he was not going to be another Jeff,
“to a wonderful woman and mother of our son, Greg,” Jim turned a
picture that was on his desk around for Jerry to see as he spoke,
“you?”

“She's pretty,” Jerry lied as he saw the overweight and very plain
looking woman with the scrawny little boy in her lap, “and your son's
cute as can be,” Jerry tried to look sincere in the uncomfortable
position he'd been thrown into, then remembered the question and used
it as an escape, “and no, never been married.”

“Are you gay?” Jim asked in a way you'd ask someone if they were hungry
about lunch time.

“Hell no,” Jerry was caught off guard and couldn't help sounding
