I will be the first to admit I am no e.e. cummings LOL. This is long winded, but one of my best I believe. It's about standing up after love walked out the door. Kinda :-s.

Hidden Behind the Steel Walls

Are you sure you want me to let go?

Once she's free there's no turning back.

She'll flutter her little wings.

Discover she wasn't the one who lacked.

Is love not worth it?

Are material things more important?

Seems someone is on the fence.

Life isn't always eloquent.

~

Once I step away there's no tomorrow.

Days will stretch out and seem endless.

The winds of change will pick up.

Where she lands is anyone's guess.

She may start giving herself away.

To anyone who'll pay attention.

She has no will to live.

She'll lack comprehension.

~

Her little wings are so fragile.

Her broken heart is tender.

Don't utter the word goodbye

if you still want to be her defender.

She's not going to let you protect her.

She's stronger than you think.

One day she won't be there anymore.

Because you did the unimaginable and blinked.

~

For you it'll be easy.

Out of sight is out of mind.

For her she'll struggle.

Doesn't know she's one of a kind.

You need to understand

the decision you make today.

One day you'll realize

what you so willingly gave away.

~

Do I let her fly?
