There are so many scars...

You ask about the scars.

As your eyes and hands

roam over my body, each

old wound is examined,

its story told.  Cuts and

scrapes, falls and tumbles,

all have left their mark.

*

Where are the scars of this,

you ask, and I take your hand,

hold it to my breast, and

you feel my heart’s erratic

beating, thumping, pounding,

and you raise your lips to

kiss my hot forehead, comforting.

*

With tender fingers you pry

into my secrets; I open my

arms to welcome you.  Holding

tightly to your hand, I will

tell you anything you want

to know, share it all with

you, my life, my safety, my lover.
