A tiny teaser of what's to come.

Lying in the silent darkness that always follows their nocturnal
lovemaking, she relaxes into his broad chest, feeling her skin slowly 
cooling from its sticky heat.  His arm around her is solid, 
inescapable, and it makes her feel safer than any touch she's ever 
felt.  She feels his breath on the back of her neck, and suddenly is 
hit with a rush of love for him.  Moving slowly and carefully so as not 
to disturb him, she moves her right hand to cup her belly, imagining it 
to be already swollen with their child.  She feels the flicker of life 
deep within her; another rush of unconditional love.  Closing her eyes, 
she sighs.  This child she already loves more than life itself... and 
yes its existence has not even been conceived.  Two weeks from now she 
will feel blood between her legs and cry for hours, mourning the loss 
of a child that was not meant to be.
