A poem of found love

I felt it coming on for days,

This captivation.

I do not know what makes me glad,

But suddenly, I could sing!

Last night, the moonlight on the steps,

The simple fact of frost on the morning roofs,

Seem wondrous, so picturesque.

On this autumn dawn,

The leaves are alight with liquid gold.

The garden, full of streaming light,

A level yellow silence.

A charm of finches in the falling flowers,

A burning bush beside the door,

A wildness blazing from within,

That was not here before...

This fire, this serenity, this love

Where have I been these heedless years,

Not to have seen this glory,

Shining from out the heart of things,

And finding its home in you.
