A children's party goes dramatically and horribly wrong

THE MISSING CANDLE THAT WAS VERY SPECIAL ä¦ VannaD August 2004

A teenage girl called Lauren, was lying down on a hillside, looking up
at the sky, watching the sun go down.

When Lauren had finished watching the sun go down, she went into her Mum
and Dad. As she slowly, crept, up, the stair¡¦s, her little Brother,
who was called Matt, said, ¡§You¡¦re late coming in tonight,¡¨

¡§I know I watched the sun go down,¡¨

Lauren took hold of Matt¡¦s hand, and they both went up stairs, and went
to bed. The next day, Vicki, Lauren¡¦s Mum, woke Lauren up, because,
she had to set up a party at her own house. Lauren had to get up early,
because, her house very big. It had, three floors, five bathrooms,
three living rooms, two kitchens, an outhouse, two dining rooms and
nine bedrooms. Lauren¡¦s Dad, Andrew, woke Matt up, so he could help.
Lauren¡¦s Mum was cooking food for the party, and her Dad was picking
out CD¡¦s and games at the supermarket.

When Lauren finished getting ready, she got her Brother, came down
stairs, and had breakfast. Matt whispered to Lauren, ¡§Where are we
going to start first?¡¨

Lauren hesitated while she thought then said, ¡§Um, in the living room
I guess. Hurry up Matt there¡¦s an awful lot to do.¡¨

They both finished their breakfast and started putting up, balloons, and
party streamers saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Andrew, Lauren¡¦s Dad, came back, with loads of CD¡¦s and some games. He
showed them to Lauren and Matt. They both liked them.

Then Vicki, Lauren¡¦s, Mum came in with a lot of food, Lauren, said in a
funny voice, ¡§We don¡¦t need that much food Mum.¡¨

¡§There¡¦s a lot of people coming, Lauren,¡¨

¡§I¡¦ll get another table then,¡¨ Andrew said in a lame voice.

Vicki spread the food all over the table, and, in-between the gaps went
sequins saying HAPPY-BITHDAY. They were all, in different colours. In
the living room everything was moved around, so it wasn¡¦t in the way.

Lauren and her family went upstairs to get ready for the party. The
guard dogs Britney and Major were sat by the door, waiting for people
to arrive. By three o¡¦clock lots of people started to arrive.

When they were half way through the party. Vicki was getting some
drinks, for the kids, like pop, and different kinds of drinks. She saw
a very different looking kind of box; she stopped doing the drinks, and
got it down.

As she slowly got it down, she saw two initials on the front of the box;
it said S.A. for, Sam Adie, her Dad she, opened it very slowly, and
inside it was a gold candle. She put it away and left it for a few
hours. A Man was outside looking at the box, because he wanted it. The
man saw a window open in the kitchen, as quickly as could; he took the
candle and brung it to his pub. His pub was very quiet, because people
went in his pub for a quiet drink, or a meal.

He took the candle and lit it on a table for someone to have a meal.
After 2 minutes, a couple came in to have a meal. They hadn¡¦t booked a
table so; they chose the one that had the gold candle on. As they were
ordering, the candle just caught fire to the table, just like magic.
Everything caught fire very quickly so everyone had to escape out of
the building, as quickly as they could. Almost as the last person got
out of the building. The flames, fanned by the wind flared up. The wall
of the pub became a sheet of living flames. Fiery tongues licked at
the thatched eaves, forming patterns that outlined the building, like
the string of coloured lights did at Christmas time.

The Christmas card picture disappeared within moments when the thatch
exploded into a mass of flame. Everyone heard the bangs and crashes as
the roof timbers collapsed.
