An observation of love, light and friendship (standard:poetry, 98 words)

This is a pert little poem which I wrote after a small glitch in a friendship.

No man is an island. 

Everyone needs people. 

Or so they say. 

The extent of friendship, how far friendships go is a choice, not a
decision. 

When the heart becomes involved, things get dangerous. 

When you open your heart to someone, when you make yourself available,
exposed, vulnerable, you are giving the workd a chance to hurt you. 

So why do we keep doing it? 

Because the giving and getting is so good for the human heart. 

Because loving someone and receiving that love back is the best feeling
in the world. 

Because, I guess, we are human.
