Inspired by Hope, for Hope, about Hope...thank you

When Hope Dies

When love was friendlier, the Muse, the cats lying at my side, Hope was
the eternal spirit.

But love is not always friendly, sometimes distant, out of reach,
walking away in strides of days till gone. Hope, then, is not eternal;
it is hiding, slinking away like the cat that doesn't come near. Stay
awhile more, let me not feel the depth of you gone, not yet, for Muse I
need Hope to live, all the rememberings of a week old romance, the
lingering kisses not measured by the hourglass that slips your absence
by.

I should be building sentences, stocking up on verbs, but inspiration
has gone away with the tangle of arms and legs, leaving me feeble,
thought helpless to express in words. I am alone, unable to go home,
living my second childhood. However brief, let Hope live, let love
linger, and words come like Sundays.

Let youth be rained on afresh, because with Hope, life is lovely, so
hang on one more Sunday. Muse will come, he always does.
