being in love with your bestfriend

i have written this a thousand times 

yet no words appear on the paper 

the empty page of white 

stares back at me.. as if to say 

there are no words 

and yet.. i know, they do exist 

or at least one word does 

i hesitate to write it 

for writing it, unfolds my heart 

lays it open for ridicule 

words... spoken or written 

once exposed to the air 

to the eyes and ears 

can not be taken back 

or erased from the memory 

words... expressions of inner desires 

uncover, what i try so desperately to conceal 

for unsaid, i am safe from rejection 

humiliation and untold other emotions 

as i rot away in my corner of the world 

and so here i sit, alone 

unable to risk the forthcoming rejection 

i watch you and long for you 

but i can not tell you... because i treasure you 

and want you to stay
