| A poor attempt on my behalf at poetry, and probably an insult to real poets, this is an attempt to break into a new realm with a strong message. | |||
I saw you in the coffee shop today, the one we often went to; I stopped in to say hello, though I knew it couldn’t be true; Her hair was similar to yours, but not nearly as sweet; I sighed and felt so empty, my heart had skipped a beat; As I walked along the sidewalk, I saw your car go past; I ran and waved and called to you, but it was moving awfully fast; As it turned a block away, I saw the driver stare; I shook my head and began to weep, he didn’t really care; I couldn’t take it anymore, I had to run not walk; But I laughed out loud when I came upon your name written on the street in chalk; It was spelled a little different, but it meant the same you see; Death itself can’t come between, the bond of you and me.
