THE MOTH Our lives are like the flutter of paper wings over an open flame. The wings of the moth as it flitters about the fire. . How brief and futile thin its hour; how frantically it avoids the dark and seeks the light. . What terror has it known that even this small thing wants the same as I: light, warmth, life and love? . Try to kill me, it says, and I will fly. Isolate me and I will die. Pull me too close to the flame and I will burn. . The flutter of my tiny wings are kisses against your lips that say the smallest things can love. . Some will shun these thoughts and some will scorn but all things that live want to live, and all things that love have need of love-- and I, I can only pity this. ~Will Tweet
