I found evidence of this in a recent Business Studies lesson. An ‘I'm
Just Ace Syndromed' lad came marching through the door and asked my 
tutor for a certain textbook, omitting the please and thank you, and 
started talking to someone sitting near me. He used his usual ‘cool' 
voice, which is very slow and sounds like someone groaning. I instantly 
imitated this voice to my friend sitting next to me: “I talk like this 
because I'm cool an' 'ard and people respect me.” Something corny like 
that. The ‘I'm Just Ace Syndromed'  lad turned around to face me and 
instead of shouting (well, groaning!) ‘shut up!' or something similar, 
he said me quietly in a voice I had never heard him used before, “look, 
Richard, just don't.” I could hardly believe my ears. It must have been 
his NORMAL voice! It sounded much better than that groaning. He then 
however, continued to groan to his friend. 

Another reason ‘I'm Just Ace Syndromed' people act ‘cool' is to hide
their intelligence, or should I say, lack of intelligence. Instead of 
saying anything intelligent they would much rather point out and 
attempt to make fun of something – often bright hair colours. “Ha, 
you're a GINNER!” is a popular one. Why people try to make others 
uncomfortable like this is beyond me. A colour is a colour. End of 
story. But it takes the spotlight off themselves and their 
insecurities, landing it on someone else. 

Well, hopefully I haven't made myself too unpopular, but I often have
the urge to talk about all these annoying people who think they're 
better than everyone else! 

So, what's ‘cool?' And more to the point, what's ‘normal?'
