October chill (standard:poetry, 78 words)

Chilly autumn comes early this year.

Harsh cutting chill

scolding crimson cheaks

cowered low to shield from

breaking winds

that whip through barron branches,

branches that beckon for the lush green

Long Past.

For here the wind is loudest

and thus he is the king.

Drained by colorless landscape,

observer's eyes carress miniscule facinations

Frozen and unmoved,

no bends

but breaks.

Arthritic limbs groan

their last cry

before they fall from their

towered status,

to where death is law

and life is a vigilante.
