| This is a poem about a boy who lived down stairs from me as a child. He was taken away too soon in an accident right before my eyes... This is for Steven | |||
Though I didn't know him well, I just didn't understand. Why I wanted to be loving him, Why I longed to hold his hand. I prayed for a miracle, As God took his breath From his cold and lifeless body and escorted him to death. So small and so fragile, He stared at the sky. I stood there in tears As we all watched him die. We were heartbroken. I tried to be strong. And I asked my father, "Daddy, where has he gone?" "He's gone up to heaven," He said with a smile. "Try to be brave." "You'll be sad for a while." Now I realize God was taking him home And he must have had A small purpose of his own. Because now he's an angel And he's taking his flight. He's trying his wings In the starry sweet night. Tweet
