The Boat

A boat on a river,

The river tranquil and serene,

Knowing the future is safe.

A ripple in the wake of life

Disturbs the rhythm,

Creates havoc,

Words fly,

Swirling tides of misunderstanding

Angry skies above,

Stir up the past

Waves of violence

Overwhelming

Rush forward

Bringing stinging revenge

Over the bow of this boat

The skies grow darker and I become

Lost in the rough waters

Grasping onto hope

It's weak thread

Tearing

In this battle

Of wills

I am rowing a boat

On a river of uncertainty

You had one oar

I had the other

You jump ship

Leaving me to steer alone

Going around in circles

Not knowing tomorrow

So I stop

And wait

For the storm to pass

And in my despair

I find peace

And in my peace

I find

Myself...
