Reflection

turds bloom like lilies

on the stagnant pond of night

.

others have seen angels

in its onyx face

i have not

.

there are no memories here

only moments

to stare down and contemplate

.

thoughts will not ripple the water

nor it reveal my fate

only baffling reflections

blurred by wind and

holocaust of leaves

.

cool drift of wonder

hid the end of dreams

.

cruel-branched fingers tap out coded myths

in the labyrinth of desire

in the sacred grove

where slouch-hatted nymphs

meet and conspire

to overthrow

and come forth from the mire

to choke my words

with wantoness

.

for i am critic of the worm

i am the heretic who must burn

one of the nameless enslaved

in the kingdom of lies

.

and so back then

cloaked in moonbeams

i must go

.

what gentle fire
