ARIZONA SUNSET Twilight approached soon In a swing she sat calmly staring Wondering if serenity was apparent To the casual strolling passersby Multi-hued banded rays of color Splashed along the horizon Skipping & dancing at days end Soon the oncoming night will arrive Orange & Red vanishing Melting into pale shades of blue ‘Twas a painters' palette Brilliant Arizona sunset bursting Laughingly invading azure skies Calmly nudging childhood memories Forgotten long ago Sunset dimming against twilight Darkening into blacks of night Twinkling stars canvas this easel Winking back & forth Blanket spread upon the grass She & sis would gaze above Count the stars they would try Laughingly losing place Delighted with a shooting star In silence they both lay Splashes of color for all to see Walk me back in time The child in me never far from home With Arizona's sunset evenings Tweet
