| Another poem about my granddaughter. | |||
Here Without You * “Nana loves you.” How I long to say those three amazing words. Yet sentiments are pushed away. I would be telling them to an empty two-foot grave. Time to pull up the big girl panties. To find a way to be brave. * The holidays suck! It's not the way it's supposed to be. I want to hold you, little angel. To hear you scream like a banshee. See the sparkle of awareness in your eyes. Smell the sweet scent of your head. Kiss all your tiny fingers and toes. Yet, I'm writing this instead. * There's no tree this year. I can't find the Christmas joy. My spirit hangs in balance. My heart looks for a decoy. Decorations are hung all around. The bells are ringing. Gifts being exchanged. Carolers still singing. * Yes, you're in a better place. I've found a little peace. Got things to look forward to. The weddings of my son and niece. Happy things surround me. It's just not the same anymore. My hands find air when I reach out. Can't find my way out of misery's door. * Click here to read the rest of this story (37 more lines)
