| This is a story about the life of a tree. I hope you stay with it until the end. I'm aware it's a bit wordy. But when you start at the beginning you can't leave something out. It could be my best poem yet. | |||
Mantel Seeds ~ I learned a hard lesson early in life. We're all just a flush away. I'm living proof of that. A bird pooped me one day. It sounds disgusting and gross, but that's the story of my birth. Though the real beginning came from below the Mother earth. ~ A couple bought the home on my land as I made my entrance into the sunshine. With a hunched stem I watched as they pulled up the for sale sign. Her squeals of glee could be heard from many miles away as he shouted some indistinguishable words. ~ Daily life passed without a care as I started to sprout limbs and leaves. The rain and sun provided growth. I could rustle now with a gentle breeze. Majestic was what I was striving for. Little did I know I was about to experience joy. On a glorious Summer day the couple brought home a handsome baby boy. ~ The shade I provided in the afternoons was a blessing for me as much as her. She'd bring Jacob out for a breathe of air. I was glad I wasn't a wimpy Douglas fir. I'd listen to her crackle as he cooed. Even lost a few leaves from fear at his first steps. Longed to catch him as he stumbled. The small tike had too much pep. ~ The day the man made a swing on me Click here to read the rest of this story (271 more lines)
