I was given a challenge. Write nine line stanza with the subject of sour milk and strained peaches. Now for a forty-one year old woman it was a stretch to say the least. Then a friend reminded me I have The Gift of Gracie :-). Problem was solved!

The Gift of Gracie

Sour milk and strained peaches

have made the smell of my car unbearable.

Oh how I long for tropical beaches.

But love has captured my heart.

All because of a miniature miracle.

Her smile sends my heart rate off the charts.

By her cries and laughter I'm beguiled.

Her adorable face leaves me incurable.

I now realize this precious baby is my grandchild.

**Just a small side note**

The day I wrote this poem I hadn't yet seen my granddaughter. She was a
month old and I hadn't even laid eyes on her. As life sometimes
imitates art, I got a phone call from my son's ex-girlfriend's father
asking if I wanted to see Gracie. I JUMPED at the chance :-). So, on
the day I was writing about a hopeful future, God gave me a glimpse of
my amazing present.
