Luke and Artoo make friends and influence people on a Federation Starbase.

Chapter One 

As Luke Skywalker stepped from the ladder onto the deck of the Spacedock
a double line of Security officers snapped to attention with Phaser 
rifles and a Petty Officer piped him aboard over an electronic 
Pennywhistle. Recognizing this as an official greeting ceremony Luke 
came to attention. 

Admiral Gingerbread stepped forward as soon as the Petty officer
finished and greeted Luke with a warm handshake. "Commander Skywalker, 
welcome to Spacedock and the United Federation of Planets." 

"Thank you Admiral," Luke replied shaking hands and getting a flash of
desperation through the Force from the brief contact. Having sensed the 
desperation Luke reached out with his untrained force senses and 
discovered that most of those Star Fleet personnel in sight were also 
feeling a mixed bag of fear, hope and desperation, all on account of 
his arrival. As the Admiral introduced him to the staff of officers 
present certain names seemed significant to his heightened awareness. 

Captain McDonnell of the USS Galaxy, Captain Boyd of the USS Intrepid,
Captain Fromage of the USS Sovereign. For some reason, unknown now but 
sensed through the force, those three men and their ships would be Key 
to Luke's return home. Once the formalities were concluded and Luke was 
shown to guest quarters he attempted to meditate on what these things 
meant. 

One thing was clear, this United Federation of Planets was in desperate
need of help in fighting a power known as The Dominion, which used 
clone soldiers called Jem'Hadar. Having grown up on tales of the Clone 
Wars Luke was instantly sympathetic to their cause but what he really 
needed was a way home. 

Admiral Gingerbread and the three Captains were in conference when
Security placed this call. 

"Security to Admiral Gingerbread." 

"Go ahead!" 

"Admiral, the machine entity that arrived with Commander Skywalker is
taking the cover panels off the Shuttlepod Conrad." 

"Understood, Captain McDonnell will be there to evaluate the situation
momentarily." 

"Yes Sir. Security out." 

"Transporter room, lock on to Captain McDonnell's commbadge and prepare
to perform a site to site transport to the area near the shuttlepod 
Conrad." 

"Transporter room Aye, ready on your signal." 

"Captain I don't have to tell you how things look for the Federation
winning this war. If this situation presents any opportunities to 
increase our chances, make full use of them." 

"Yes Admiral!" 

"Now Transporter room." Admiral Gingerbeard ordered. 

The scene in the docking bay was a bit further along but exactly as
Security had described it. 

"Captain McDonnell to Commander Skywalker." chimed the commbadge he had
been given.
